Teens In The Driver's Seat
Wednesday, May 29, 2013 • Posted May 28, 2013

Two weeks ago, the Teens in the Driver’s Seat organization at MHS started off a very busy and important week by conducting a school-wide pledge in cooperation with “It Can Wait,” AT&T’s nation wide campaign to bring awareness to the dangers that texting while driving pose to our nation’s teens.

Students watched a video entitled “The Last Text,” in which a DPS officer, a mom, a sister and a friend of a teen who died while texting and driving relate the terrible consequences of that deadly decision. The video also features a young man who suffered catastrophic injuries when the driver he was riding with chose to text and drive.

The Teens in the Driver’s Seat members would like to encourage all of the citizens of Mason to take the pledge. It’s easy! Just go to and in the right hand corner check the box pledging to never text and drive.

The Shattered Dreams program is also took place at MHS followed by the prom on Saturday. Shattered dreams reminds students of the extreme dangers that come from drinking and driving with a realistic reenactment. The Teens in the Driver’s Seat organization at MHS reminds everyone to drive safely.
