One Act Play Takes 2nd Spot At State
Wednesday, May 29, 2013 • Posted May 28, 2013

The Mason High School One Act Company won second place at the UIL State One Act Contest this past Wednesday, May 22, with their performance of the comedy, Crimes of the Heart.

Eight Texas 1A high school one act plays performed at the final competition. Individual acting awards for MHS went to Cassie Benefield – all-star cast and Caroline Hudson – honorable all-star cast. This unique season was filled with highs and lows and a lot of prayer. We celebrated with laughter and with tears.

We are so lucky to live in a community with such support for our students and teachers. Special thanks go to the families of our one act cast and crew members who support and encourage us in every way. We’d like to thank the Mason ISD administration and faculty for their support throughout our season and for the faculty who is always ready to loan props and scenery items. Thank you Larry Smith, Max Jordan and Kory Perlichek – our wonderful bus/trailer drivers!! We appreciate the following local businesses who lent us important scenery and prop items: Mason County News, The Dr. Pepper Company, Hinckley’s Country Store, Country Collectibles, The Community Non-Profit Thrift Store, The Petal Patch, Market Square, Fredericksburg Theater Company and The Point Theater in Kerrville.

It takes a village to raise a child AND it takes a great community to put on a one act play! Thank you, Mason! !
