The M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library has named Kim Paxson Artist of the Month. Two different series of her work will be displayed. Inside the library, three large graphite drawings, inspired by museum displays, capture the stillness of black-and-white photography. A collection of colorful, whimsical acrylic paintings celebrating birds is exhibited in the foyer.
Ms. Paxson moved to Mason in the middle of May and states that she is thrilled to finally be here. She and her husband J.D. Kidwell have come to Mason by way of San Antonio, Boerne, and Kimble County. Ms. Paxson has a degree in Fine Arts, a background in graphic design, and is a former adjunct faculty member of the Southwest School of Art and Craft where she taught watercolor. Graphite, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic are her preferred mediums. She is a member of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. Her works will be on display until the end of July.
