About Mason's Cancer Relay
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 • Posted January 28, 2009

Last year, approximately $20,000 was raised by the local relay events. Since that time, the group has helped numerous Mason residents fighting cancer. The funds have helped with medications, gas, hotel costs, vehicle maintenance, electric bills, dental costs and groceries.

All of the money raised by the Mason Cancer Relay goes directly to help Mason residents, except for a 10% tithe to the American Cancer Society. They have no administrative costs, as the local group is all volunteer.

The first team meeting is being held on Thursday, January 29, 6:00 p.m., at the Coffee Mug n' More. Anyone interested in sponsoring a team is encouraged to attend.

The Relay Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Coffee Mug n' More. Darrell and Mona McCall will be joined by Justin Trevino for a musical kickoff celebration. Information about the Mason Cancer Relay will be available at the event, and there is no cost to attend. Everyone is encouraged to stop by, enjoy some great music, and learn more about how to help people in our community.

The actual Mason County Cancer Relay is scheduled for the last Saturday in April (April 25), 10:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Mark your calendar to be sure to be part of this community-wide event.
