Anyone who has been into Market Square or Coffee Mug n' More and looked through their selection of 2009 calendars could not help but notice the beautiful offering from the Hill Country Alliance. What they may not have known is that two of the photos on the calendar are by local resident, Lawrie Airheart.
One image is of a barn and wildflowers taken on Red Lane, while the other is of a sunset and windmill overlooking the north side of town.
There were over 400 entries in the contest to be selected for the calendar. The theme was 'capturing the essence of the Hill Country,' and both of Lawrie's images do that superbly.
This is not her first recognition for her photographic skills. The San Angelo Standard-Times awarded her second prize in their contest honoring Lady Bird Johnson. That image was of a closeup of a butterfly. She also won several awards at the 2008 Mason County Sesquicentennial Fair, and has supplied images to the Mason County News, most notably, of last year's fire at Art.
The calendar can also be purchased directly from the Hill Country Alliance at their website: www.hillcountryalliance.org.
