J.C. Rumbaugh, 79 of Georgetown, was received unto the Lord on January 12, 2009, at his home.

Rev. Don Ledbetter and Rev. Joel Rumbaugh officiated at the funeral service at Heritage Baptist Church, 1601 FM 971 in Georgetown, at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2009. Interment followed with full military honors in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

J.C. was born May 7, 1929, to Hugh R. and Ola L. (Monroe) Rumbaugh in Temple, Oklahoma. After graduating from High School, J.C. entered into the service of his country. He started his military career in the Army as a private at the end of World War II. He earned the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-2 through his service that saw him stationed in Japan, Korea, Germany, three tours in Vietnam and finally retiring from Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. J.C. appreciated nature in his quiet times. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and spending time with family and friends. He recently relocated to Georgetown from Livingston to be closer to family.

J.C. is survived by his children, Mike Rumbaugh and wife Donella of Georgetown, Pat Rumbaugh and wife Patricia of Nacogdoches, Margaret Williams of Mason, Joel Rumbaugh and wife Roxie of La Grange, and Chuck Rumbaugh and wife Morrye of Pearland; brothers and sisters, Arlene Howard of California, Betty Perryman of California, Bobby of Oklahoma, Peggy Valentine of Sundown, Frances Taylor of Levelland, Kenneth of Levelland, and Jesse of Levelland, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He had a full and wonderful life and love for his family. We will miss him dearly. Rest in peace.
