The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, January 20th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 37 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

Lion Lyle Johansen was responsible for the program and introduced Buster Nixon, Sheriff of Mason County, who spoke about his first few days in office. Buster said that he had been very busy since taking office the 1st of January. He and his deputies had passed a state jail inspection and solved a series of burglaries beside the regular patrol duties and responsibilities of the Sheriff's Office. Buster answered questions from the club and the meeting adjourned.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 27th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be James Kingston.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
