Kids With Disabilities Organization Forming
Wednesday, June 19, 2013 • Posted June 21, 2013

I am a mother to an 8 year old autistic son. Routine is everything in our world and now, with summer in

play, we are lost.

It is very hard to stay busy and active in our community. Not too many people are familiar with my son and unfortunately his environment is a disadvantage at times. Rules and requirements limit our everyday life. We want so much to just go with the flow but we can’t.

An example would be going to the city pool - what child wouldn’t like that? Well, while my child loves the water, he can’t be in a crowded place, or hear loud noises, or follow the rules at times. It’s much too

You pick a place and it's hard: the library, the grocery store, even the playgrounds. As you can see, it is very challenging for many more reasons. For many years, I have wanted to put together an organization for kids with disabilities. It’s my mission and passion to advocate for my son and to help him not feel lost in this world.

Mason has many families with disabilities who are all so different, how wonderful would it be to have an organization where parents and loved ones could go for advice, help and support as well as very useful information regarding the diagnosis, benefit help and recreational activities for our children.

With the right help and the right people within our loving community, this will impact families like mine who feel lost and stuck. It’s very hard to travel for such support and we would be doing a great service taking care of our generation and the ones to come with such an organization.

In this mission, I have been in contact with various people to help aid in getting an organization started but I still need contacts and families with disabilities to come forward to voice their needs within this community. Resources are everything and it is too unfortunate that many children with disabilities are left in the dark about great benefits and programs.

It is time now to do all we can for them! I have high hopes such an organization can work and become an example to following counties like Mason to strive for awareness and support. Please if you are interested in helping or want more information you may contact me via phone and/or emaiI! Thankyou:SamanthaAvalos:325-347-2478, or .
