The days are clear,

Day after day,

When April’s here,

That leads to May,

And June

Must follow soon:

Stay, June, stay! -

If only we could stop the moon

And June!

—-Christina Georgina Rossetti

O well.

Nobody can stop time.

That’s the way it goes.

First your money.

Then your clothes.

But less is more.

The hotter it gets—

Less is better.

Such as haiku.

So much can be said with so little words.

Butterflies

Flit in a field of sunlight

That is all

—Bassho

Butterflies also flit among the salvia.

And kidneywood.

And lantana.

And Texas sage.

Why did the moron throw a stick of butter out the window?

To see butter fly.

Butterflies are free.

But only because they burst from the cocoon.

Leaving behind the familiar and secure.

Sometimes what’s safe becomes suffocating.

Things change.

Such as time.

Why did the moron throw the clock out the window?

To see time fly.

Seasons change.

So long, Spring.

Summer takes charge on Friday.

And away we go.

Summertime…and the living is easy.

Vacations.

Weddings.

Reunions.

Barbecues.

Ice cream.

Ice tea.

Cold drinks.

Swimming.

Sunshine.

Sunburns.

Camp.

Camping.

Laughing.

And napping.

That’s Mason.
