Aaron Watson Kicks Off Round Up at the Old Peanut Mill July 12th
Wednesday, June 26, 2013 • Posted June 27, 2013

Renowned country singer Aaron Watson will open up the festivities for the 2013 Round Up when he appears at the Old Peanut Mill Steakhouse on July 12. Aaron is touring in support of his critically acclaimed new album ‘Real Good Time.’

Aaron recently opened with a career-best No. 9 rank on Billboard’s country chart for his new album ‘Real Good Time,’ in addition to his biggest Nielsen SoundScan week on Top Country Albums. Remarkably, this was accomplished under Watson’s own independent HTK Records banner. Watson helps round out the Top 10 alongside powerhouses like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band and Little Big Town. Produced by Sam Seifert and Wes Hightower, this is Watson’s eleventh album.

After a series of records including one of gospel songs titled ‘Barbed Wire Halo’ and a dual disc CD/DVD, ‘Aaron Watson LIVE: Deep in the Heart of Texas,’ ‘Real Good Time’ is the pinnacle of his musical tenure thus far. “It really sums up what we have been doing the last twelve years, and I feel like it is the cream of the crop for us,” he says. He even recruited names like Willie Nelson and Elizabeth Cook to sing with him on “Honky Tonk Kid” and “Leather and Lace,” respectively. Drawing from influences including Chris LeDoux, George Strait and Waylon Jennings, this record is country music at it’s core because as Watson states “country music, real country music, is cool…it’s the coolest there is.”

Here is a snapshot of what Aaron Watson is up to:

    * Watson’s anthemic new single “Summertime Girl” has earned the highest chart debut, most adds and most spin increase on the Texas Music Chart and Texas Regional Radio Report. * Frito-Lay and Wal-Mart have partnered with Watson for a special summer campaign throughout the month of June. Watson will be featured on drop pallets in the grocery section of over 350 Wal-mart stores throughout his home state of Texas, driving fans/consumers to a “text-to-win” contest for concert tickets to one of his shows. * Watson donated all proceeds ($10,000) from “Raise Your Bottle” (lead single off album) to the Boot Campaign at a special SXSW performance this year to help assist military and their families through hard times. * Looking ahead, Watson has an exciting run of tour dates including a special gig with country legend Alan Jackson in July at the Isleta Amphitheater in Albuquerque, top billing at Thunder on the Mountain in the Ozarks, support for Jana Kramer at Summerfest in Milwaukee (North America’s largest music festival) and he’ll headline Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA and Billy Bob’s in Ft Worth (both multiple ACM/CMA “Nightclub of the Year” winners). Additionally, Watson will cross the pond to Norway for the Country Music Festival Vinstra in July.

Watson has accumulated many accolades and critical accomplishments over the course of his career; including selling over 150,000 records and seven #1 singles on the Texas Music Chart.
