Snow Cones for School Supplies to Benefit Bluebonnet CASA
Wednesday, July 3, 2013 • Posted July 3, 2013

Bluebonnet CASA currently serves 45 children in the counties of Mason, Menard, McCulloch and Kimble. Of the 15,153 residents living in these counties, 4,195 are children. The combined per capita income is below poverty level with residents earning less than $23,537 annually (US Census Bureau 2011 and Texas Quick Facts). While poverty is not a direct cause of child abuse and neglect, it is a factor that puts our child population at greater risk for abuse and neglect.

The new school year is rapidly approaching and there is a desperate need of school supplies and backpacks for these underprivileged children. To help aid in this need, there will be a snow cone stand on the courthouse lawn during Mason County Round-Up Parade and Arts and Craft Fair. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the CASA organization to help prepare these children for school.

Donations of money, school supplies, or backpacks will also be accepted. Please stop by, enjoy a snow cone, and donate to the very worthy cause!
