Leatherwood Family Announces New Funeral Home for Mason Community
Wednesday, July 3, 2013 • Posted July 3, 2013

Martin & Phyllis Leatherwood, of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady, are proud to announce the opening of their newest funeral home at 1101 Highway 29 East in Mason.

“We have been encouraged for a good while to open a location in Mason and provide the personalized service that we have provided families in Brady and McCulloch County since 1993”, said Martin.  ”Over the years, we have noticed many family connections between Brady and Mason. Brady’s proximity to the historic Mason community, and all the personal connections, made this an easy decision for Phyllis and I to make.”

The Mason location will benefit the families that are served as well as the community.  The newly updated facility is a single level facility, which makes it easily accessible to all. A circle drive has been added in front of the funeral home, allowing for easy drop-off and pick-up of individuals with limited mobility. Handicapped parking spaces will also be designated.  On the inside, a state of the art sound system has been installed which will accommodate most electronic devices that music can be stored on, allowing the family to utilize their own music if desired. A digital music library, with over a thousand selections, will also be available for the family to choose music from.  A large central gathering area with comfortable furniture, two large state rooms and a spacious chapel provide each family and their friends a serene place to visit.  The Memorial Video Tribute will also be offered to families.  This Memorial Video Tribute, a DVD which is created in-house by utilizing photos that are provided by the family, will be able to be viewed at the funeral home during visitation as well as on our website. Our informational website, which is very easy to navigate, will have the complete obituary for each family that is served, information about pre-arranging funerals, planning a funeral, caskets, outer burial containers and grief support. Visitors can also choose to have an email sent to them each time we post a new obituary. Flowers and sympathy cards can also be sent from the website.

Leatherwood Memorial Chapels will have a professional, caring staff available for funeral services, memorial services, cremation services, visitations and graveside services. As a full service funeral home, at-need funeral arrangements, pre-need or pre-arranged funeral planning, grief support resources and monuments are just a few of the services that will be offered to help meet the needs of local residents.

“Martin and I are pleased to open a funeral home in Mason to provide support and comfort to families of Mason County”, said Phyllis.  She added, “We feel that the families of Mason County will appreciate our commitment to excellence in funeral service. The special family-to-family level of service that we offer, combined with a tradition of kindness and caring, is so important when a family loses a loved one.”

“We understand the security a family receives when dealing with people they know and trust,” Martin said. “Our dedication has formed a trusting relationship with the community over the last 20 years. We are proud of the reputation for personal service we have earned and the confidence families have placed in us. It will be our privilege to have the honor of serving Mason area families, too.“

Martin has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for nearly 30 years. Martin and Phyllis Leatherwood purchased Colonial Funeral Home in Brady in 1993. They have three children, Robert, Jameson and Xander. The Leatherwood Family and close associates have been providing personalized service to families in Brady and McCulloch County for nearly 20 years and are looking forward to providing the families of Mason County that same high level of service.
