The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, July 2nd, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 33 members and one visitor in attendance.
New "Boss" Lion Fritz Landers was responsible for the program and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.
The club will donate 200% to the District Lions Club charities which include the Texas Lions Camp, Leader Dog for the Blind, Lions Club Foundation, Acuna Eye Clinic, etc.
The new officers for the year were installed by 1st Vice District Governer, John Gammill. These are: President, Fritz Landers; 1st Vice President, Ken Cordero; 2nd Vice President, Joel Kuykendall; 3rd Vice President, Jess Irwin; 1 Year Director, Jim Heath; 1 Year Director, Chase Smith; 2 Year Director, Jim Heidelburg; 2 Year Director, Mike Murphy; Secretary/Treasurer, Gene Gammill; and, Tail Twister, Chuck Bearden.
Lion Chris Dyer gave a brief report of his trip to Moore, Oklahoma, to help with the tornado disaster. Chris will give a program, on July 23rd, along with the adults and youth that traveled and worked with him. Chris thanked everyone that helped with this effort.
The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, July 9th, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Dave Benefield.
The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
