The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, July 9th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 38 members and sixitors in attendance.

Lion Dave Benefield was responsible for the program and introduced Levi Hofmann and Cassie Benefield who spoke about the one-act play presented by Mason High School.

Dave told about all the events that happened leading up to the Mason play advancing to state. Cassie and Levi talked about their role and duties in the presentation of the play. Dave asked Cassie and Levi to tell how they felt, and how the events after the regional contest affected them, and if it changed the way they approached the state contest.

They both said that they were performing for their school, for Bracketville, and for the glory of God. This was a very special program.

Cassie and Levi both said how much Mrs. Dawn Hahn and Mrs. Merlina Gamel helped them and the rest of the members to get through this rough time in their lives.

Will McCann was inducted by Lion Gaylon Thorn. His sponsor, Michael Cope, put the official Lions Club pin on his lapel.

The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, July 16th, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Thom Canfield.

The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
