Joel Mae (Wood) Turk, 85, of Brady, Texas, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013, in Brady.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Calf Creek Cemetery.

Joel Mae was born on February 10, 1928, in Calf Creek, Texas, to Jack Wood and Gladys (Bridge) Wood. She married H.C. (Clayton) Turk on September 24, 1947, in Eden.

Joel Mae retired after 20 years of service to the Brady school district. She was a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. She enjoyed participating in meals and events at the Brady Senior Citizen (Sunset) Center and loved travelling to various musical events in the area with the Hillbilly Hits Fan Club.

Joel Mae was preceded in death by; her husband, Clayton; an infant daughter; and one sister, Georgia Hanson.

Survivors include: four sons; Robbie Turk of Calf Creek; Garry Turk, and wife Sarah, of Alice, Texas; Jack Turk, and wife Susan, of Brady, Texas; and Kenneth Turk also of Brady; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Memorials are requested to the Sunset Center in Brady.
