Joe Torres Martinez, 72, of Brady, Texas, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, in Ft. Worth.

A Visitation and Wake were held on Monday, July 15, 2013, from 6 – 8 pm at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady. Graveside Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.

Joe was born on August 4, 1940, in Mason, Texas, to Alfredo Martinez and Julia (Torres) Martinez. He married Erminia Cantu in October, 1959, and they had eight children together during their marriage. He moved to Brady from Junction in 1980. On September 1, 1982, he was married to Tomasita Hernandez.

Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed helping out loved-ones whenever possible. He was extremely loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. He enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets when time allowed, however, most of his life was spent working. Joe was always a hard worker at any job he took on. He worked as a sheep-shearer for many years, often traveling states away for work. In later years, he worked for SureFed Feeds here in Brady.

Joe was preceded in death by; his parents; four brothers; Rogelio Martinez; Pablo Martinez; Pedro Martinez and Gregorio Martinez; and one sister; Concepcion Martinez.

Survivors include: wife; Tomasita Martinez of Brady;2 sons; Noe Martinez of Brady ; Amos Martinez Sr, and wife Lydia, of Ft Worth; 6 daughters; Irma G. Martinez, and husband Francisco Cantu, of Ft. Worth; Florinda M. Hernandez, and husband George, of Ft Worth; Delores Martinez, and husband Roberto Miranda, of Arlington; JoAnn Flores, and husband Jesse, of Midland; Elida Torres, and husband Albert, of Nardin, OK; Patricia Hernandez, and husband David Marentes, of Ft Worth; one sister; Anita Marquecho of Mason; one brother; Mario Arambula of San Francisco, CA.; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
