The Kerr and Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Areas will be hosting a series of educational events for the public in August, September, and October. These “First Friday Tours” will be held on the first Friday of the month at the Kerr WMA and then repeated on the second Friday at the Mason Mountain WMA. These events are free to the public but reservations are requested.
All events at the Kerr WMA will take place after lunch (1:00 – 5:00), starting with presentations indoors followed by outdoor tours that demonstrate the topics covered earlier. At Mason Mountain WMA the indoor activities will take place in the morning beginning at 8:30 with tours scheduled after lunch (1:00 – 3:30). Lunch will be on your own but you are invited to bring your lunch and eat at the area.

1st seminar of 3 will deliver the central components in management of any wildlife species to include food, water, and cover. Join us for programs addressing the diets of native and exotic species, water use, and developing strategies for cover requirements.
Part 2: Natural Resources: Addressing Critical Issues in the Edwards Plateau

2nd seminar of 3 will deliver natural history, behavior and research focus concerning feral swine and collared peccary. Join us for programs covering what we have learned and are investigation regarding these species.
Part 3: Ecosystems Approach to Wildlife Management, putting it all together

3rd seminar of 3 will discuss white-tailed deer management, grazing management, prescribed fire, brush control and endangered species. This seminar will also include over 30 ears of nutrition and genetics research conducted at the Donnie E. Harmel White-tailed Deer Research facility located at the Kerr WMA.
