FREDERICKSBURG, TX: The Hill Top Café and Becker Vineyards invite you to join them for another fabulous vintner dinner on Sunday, August 18, 2013. The 4 course dinner kicks off with a wine reception beginning at 5 p.m. Johnny and Brenda Nicholas, Hill Top Café proprietors, and Jonathan Leahy, Becker Vineyards Winemaker, will be present to meet and greet guests.
Brenda Nicholas – who is also the Culinary Director – and Chef Marvin Hobson, created the following delectable menu around the Becker Vineyards’ wines:
Reception: Becker Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2012
Appetizer: Chilled Mason County Cantaloupe Soup with Blackberry Drizzle and Fried Basil served with Becker Vineyards Albarino 2012
First Course: Balsamic Roasted Golden and Ruby Beets tossed with Arugula and Grilled Kasseri Cheese in extra virgin Olive Oil and Roasted Garlic and served with Becker Vineyards Prairie Rotie 2012
Entrée Course: Grilled Boneless Texas Quail stuffed with Anaheim Pepper Cornbread, Chevre Cheese, and Apple Smoked Bacon topped with Crispy Pancetta and Peach-Honey Butter and served with the Becker Vineyards Reserve Merlot 2011.
Dessert Course: Hill Country Blackberry Buttermilk Upside Down Cake with Chantilly Cream topped with shaved Valrhona Belgium Chocolate and served with Becker Vineyards Clementine 2012.
While Becker Vineyards owns three different vineyards, they also purchase additional grapes from several grape growers. Three of the 5 wines being served at the vintner dinner – the Pinot Grigio, Prairie Rotie (a blend of Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah), and Reserve Merlot – are made with grapes grown by Drew and Laura Tallent of Tallent Vineyards in Mason, Texas. The Albarino and some of the Pinot Grigio were grown at the Becker’s Mason Vineyard, formerly the Peter’s Prairie Vineyard owned by Beverly Cartwright.
The dinner is $75 per person + tax + gratuity. Seating is limited; please make reservations at the Hill Top Café: 830-997-8922.
Directions: Hill Top Café is north of Fredericksburg at 10661 North U.S. Hwy 87.
