Our God is great; listen to His words and understand!

The Gospel lesson for the 12th Sunday after Pentecost came from Luke 12:32-40. In verse 32, Jesus said, “Do not be afraid, O little flock; for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.” In many places, we are told ‘do not be afraid’ and ‘fear not’ but we also know that the “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Know that God watches over you and supplies your needs just as He watches over the birds in the fields.

Will the kingdom of God come during your lifetime? Only God knows. The people of Jesus’ time knew to make unleavened bread because there was not going to be enough time for the bread to rise; the end is always near. Be ready for the end. Repent! Be baptized so that your sins will be forgiven. Believe so that you will not perish but have eternal life. Believe that God sent His son to save us from our sins.

God invites us to use our possessions and our time to make God’s kingdom on earth a reality. He is watching over you. How will we get money and what will you with it? You have the choice. Wait patiently for the coming of the Lord.

Peter answered the question “What should we do to advance the Kingdom of God on Earth?” We are to “repent; reconsider our lives; change our direction. Get baptized in the name of Jesus. Do not store up your possessions. Then your sins will be forgiven, and the gift of the Holy Spirit will be yours! The prophet Joel said that the promise of the Holy Spirit is for you, for your children, for all people, even those considered outcast and outsiders and unclean. The Lord our God invites everyone to come to Him.”

It is always good to have Maria Mutis play for our service.

Susan Ceynowa will celebrate her birthday on next Sunday, Aug 18th and Sam and Maribelle Hoerster will celebrate their anniversary on Monday, August 19, 2013.

Vacation Bible School was a great, spiritual-filler success for the children of our community. Our church supported the feeding of the children and staff by giving $590 to feed between 180 to 200 meals for the week. Thanks for your contribution to this cause.

Are you ready?
