Mason Cheer Starting Season With Fundraisers
Wednesday, August 21, 2013 • Posted August 21, 2013

The Mason Puncher Football team has been hard at work preparing for the 2013 football season. Meanwhile, the Mason High School Varsity and Jr. Varsity Cheerleading Squads have also been doing their part!

Starting the second week in July 2013, the Mason Cheer Squad began preparing for the new school year. Working on conditioning, stunting, cheers, dances and jumps, the cheerleaders were ready for the UCA Cheer Camp in San Angelo. While at the UCA Camp, two varsity members, Catelyn Felts and Jackie Drazan, received recognition as All-American Cheerleaders. Both mascot, Erin Haley, and mascot manager, Paris Jones, won the recognition as All-American Mascots. All four of these Mason students competed to win these titles. The Mason High School Cheerleaders also won the Large Group Sideline Cheer Champions on the final day of camp.

To help with the funding of the accumulating expenses, the cheerleaders have already held a Matinee Movie Showing and a Mini Cheer Camp for Mason youth. On behalf of the Mason HS Cheerleading Squads, we would like to send our thanks to Odeon Theatre, the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, and Rebekah Schuessler for their generous donations, and the community of Mason for purchasing the tickets which led to a successful fundraiser and source of entertainment for the citizens of Mason. Also, we would like thank the many girls who attended the Mini Cheer Camp and their parents for supporting the activities.

Additionally, the Mason Cheerleaders will also be selling HOMEMADE ICE CREAM at the Puncherdome on Thursday, August 22, 2013, during the scrimmage against Blanco. The Mason Cheerleaders would like to invite the community of Mason to come out and support the football players as they embark on a new season. No need to fear the August heat! The squad will be out at the start of the game, 6:00 p.m., and until the playing ends or until the ice cream is sold out! We will be selling a variety of homemade flavors at $2.00 a bowl. Get there early to ensure the purchase of your favorite flavor!

Also, the Mason Cheerleading Squads would like to invite Mason Junior High and High School students to a BACK TO SCHOOL DANCE. On Friday, August 23, 2013, there will be the Junior High Back to School Dance. Grades 5th through 8th are welcomed to attend the dance at the High School Gymnasium from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, August 24, 2013, there will be the High School Back to School Dance. Grades 9th through 12th are welcomed to attend the dance at the High School Gymnasium from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Tickets can be bought at the door for $5.00. Refreshments will be available for purchase in the concession stand at both dances. Please come out and support the Mason High School Varsity and Jr. Varsity Cheerleading Squads as we cheer on the Punchers during the new season! And May God bless Mason and America!
