So the resurfacting of some of our streets is complete. Well, if the job we got on Scheussler St. is any indication of the rest of the job, then the city of Mason got ripped off. This has to be the worst chip and seal job I have ever seen. Nothing was leveled out, neither bumps nor dips. The street is now worse than it was before. It's still bumpy but now there is the gravel and of course the oil, which I'm sure will blend with the gravel with prolonged use. But the fact remains that there was no filling in nor smoothing out. The street is still a rough drive. So the question is, was the city just trying to save a buck by having this inferior job done? If this is all the city could afford they would have been better off not doing it at all and saving the money until a decent job could be done. The old adage remains, it it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. This was not done right. And of course now that our street has been "resurfaced" it won't get any more attention for quite some time.
