Grape Cartography
Wednesday, September 11, 2013 • Posted September 11, 2013

Dorrett Townsend and Raymond Uherek, members of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country, collaborated to create a chair that is truly a grape cartography for the October 19th scholarship CHAIR-ity auction. One of twenty chairs juried into the auction, this work of art is entitled “Vineyard Tete a Tete”.

Raymond welded the sturdy frame from scrap iron and Dorrett painted the plywood seat with a map depicting Mason County’s vineyards and wineries. There are also painted clusters of grapes that represent some of the varieties currently grown in the area. It features a cedar post center and will seat two or three people.

More chairs will be featured in coming weeks. Save the date: October 19th!

Tickets for the CHAIR-ity auction are now on sale at the Mason Bank, Market Square and The Thing Is. The tickets cost $20.00 and this includes a Tuscan menu and wine.
