This morning I was reminiscing about my days as the Food Service Director for Mason ISD as I read through the names of the students listed in the Mason County News. What really impacted me and made me feel older than I really am, is the fact that those students now have their own children in Mason schools. OUCH! Not only that, the Class of 1981 is now 50 years old. That means their grandchildren may be attending Mason schools.
As I reflected back to my beginning with Mason ISD in January of 1981, I thought of how many students filed through the cafeteria line as I punched their ticket. And to my surprize and delight was one of my school lunch menus in the “Do You Remember?-30 Years Ago”. I remember planning the menus, interacting with the staff and customers, aka students and thinking about the a wonderful time that was.
Mason was a great place to raise a family and it will always have a special place in my heart. Now my sons have their families, Steven, Class of ’88, is in Orlando, FL and his son attends Middle School, while Daniel, Class of 91, lives near Seguin and his daughters attend the same school as their Opa, Stan Reinhard. Seems that life is a wonderful circle that keeps moving, even if we do get “grumpy”. (Enjoyed your “In My Opinion”). Thank you for publishing the Mason County News, it keeps me connected. By the way, two of my grandchildren like cafeteria food, that makes me smile.
