Quilt On Display at Library
Wednesday, September 18, 2013 • Posted September 23, 2013

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library is displaying Pam Scott’s quilt Block Party for the months of October and November in the Stribling Room. Pam stated, “I have recently become interested in, and excited about, the Modern Quilt Movement. It started about five years ago, and its followers have rejected over-embellished styles in favor of simple geometric shapes, modern fabrics (often solids), and radical simplicity. Block Party is one of my first attempts at a modern quilt. It totally consists of half-square triangle blocks, each with a modern print and a bright solid. This quilt has wool batting, which makes the finished product soft and puffy after washing. Feel free to look at the back, also, as sometimes I like to give the reverse side some added interest. The quilting was done by Marla Kelsey in Llano, who used a computerized program, or pantogram, for the machine quilting.” The finished product is as bright and lively as its name, so take time to drop in to see Pam’s creation up close!
