The Wesley Nurse at First United Methodist Church invites you to take part in a Lunch ‘N Learn program open to all citizens in the Mason area. The primary focus of this free program is Alzheimer’s disease. According to research found on the Alzheimer’s Association website, Alzheimer’s disease accounts for 50 to 80 percent of dementia cases. This program will offer an informal atmosphere and learning opportunity for folks desiring to know more about Alzheimer’s and dementia and where caregivers can share with other caregivers. There will be opportunities for asking questions, sharing ideas and feelings, as well as, socializing. Educational materials will be available free of charge from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging, PRIMED and USAA Educational Foundation.
The presenter for this program is Kathryn Jordan, RN, GNP-BC. She has worked extensively in geriatrics and long-term care. Ms. Jordan graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as a gerontological nurse practitioner in May 2004. She finished and received her credentialing, licensing, and certification as a board certified gerontological nurse practitioner in February 2005.
The program will be held Thursday, September 26th in the social hall of the Methodist Church at 224 Broad St, at 12:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch; beverages and dessert will be provided. For further questions or information, please call Ann Scarth, RN at 325-347-5983.
