The Odeon Theater is continuing its campaign to complete the Master Plan improvements on the historic facility by applying to various foundations for grants totaling $300,000. In order to serve the ongoing needs at the theater, the following improvements are planned: Improved Stage Lighting; Better Seating; Backstage Dressing Rooms and Storage; and Restoring the Balcony.
In order to qualify for these grants, the Odeon needs $25,000 to be raised locally which can be achieved by only 250 individuals joining the Odeon’s $100 Club. By joining, people will be eligible for a free ticket to the forthcoming Joe Ely-Jaston Williams November 2nd performance, “Is There Life After Lubbock?,” an evening of music, stories, mingling, wine and cheese at the Odeon. They will be joined by special guest Jo Carol Pierce. Other perks will be provided for club members.
Restoring the balcony will expand the theater’s capacity significantly, allowing extra seating from those previously sold-out venues in addition to bringing back happy memories from days gone by. Backstage dressing rooms and storage will allow live theatrical productions and a “green room” for the many performers. Improved stage lighting is badly needed for musical and future theatrical productions. And durable, quality seating will provide patrons with a more enjoyable experience.
