Jaston William’s, legendary Texas Acting Treasure of Greater Tuna Fame and celebrated Texas Singer-Songwriter, Joe Ely, have teamed up, written, produced and are now touring with their magnificent performance of Is There Life After Lubbock?
The show is touring through Texas, moving from Austin to a sell-out crowd in Lubbock, then to Mason for one evening before opening in Galveston at the Opera House on The Strand. It is receiving magnificent reviews, hilarious laughter from Williams’ notorious wit and praise for Ely’s extraordinary guitar playing and storytelling.
Ely and Williams have taken a personal interest in Mason and the Odeon theater and the duo will be bringing their show to Mason’s Odeon Theater on Saturday, November 2 to benefit the Odeon theater’s restoration project. The first 200 patrons joining the Odeon Theater $100 Club will be offered a free ticket to the Joe Ely-Jaston Williams performance. The evening begins at 7:00PM with a sumptuous Hill Country Wine & Cheese Reception in the lobby of The Odeon where both Williams and Ely will be on hand for a ‘meet and greet’ before their performance which will begin at 8:00PM.
The benefit performance is only part of an ongoing Odeon Capital Campaign to help generate $25,000 of community support to qualify for up to $300,000 in additional foundation grants that will aid in securing much needed upgraded seating, stage lighting, dressing rooms for performers and the restoration of the balcony. The Odeon Preservation Association only needs 250 patrons to donate $100 each to give us the $25,000 needed.
In addition, the ODEON THEATER $100 CLUB, will offer patrons of the ‘club’ additional membership amenities throughout the year such as pre and post performance receptions with visiting artists, artistic lecture series, admission to the Film Festival screenings and Q&A with filmmakers, free movie tickets, as well as other special Odeon Activities yet to be scheduled.
Join host Jaston and Joe for an evening of music, storytelling, poetry and lots of laughter inspired by their memories of growing up in and around Lubbock, Texas. Hear about everything from the cocktail mixing airplane pilot to the ocelot in the bedroom. Wear your house-shoes, sip on longnecks and try to help answer the question, Why Lubbock? Bring your friends and tell your friends and please help support the oldest, and one of the last few vintage movie houses left in existence in Texas. Mason’s own Odeon is a ‘real gem.’
