Juana Arteaga

Juana Arteaga of Fredonia passed away on December 1, 2013, at the age of 88 in her home surrounded by family.

She was born on May 23, 1925, to Jose and Herminia Ortega. She married Jose A. Arteaga on April 27, 1943, and had 70 years together.

Juana was a loving mother a devoted wife, and a caring grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Family was an important part of her life. She enjoyed cooking meals with her daughters and gathering the family together. A loving and caring soul who was always smiling.

Juana Arteaga is survived by her husband Jose Apolinar Arteaga, sons Ambrocio Jose Arteaga and wife Eva of Mason, Miguel Jose Arteaga and wife Barbara of Mason, Apolinar Arteaga Jr. and wife Herminia of Brady, Mario O. Arteaga of Fredonia, daughters Juana Garza and husband Reynol of Fredonia, Maria Obdulia Medellin and husband Federico Sr. of Mason. As well as 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Herminia Ortega, a son Mario Arteaga, daughter Jacinto Arteaga and a sister Regina Ortega Garcia.

Visitation with the family was on Monday December 2, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.

A procession left Mason Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 3, 2013, to a Mass of Resurrection that took place at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church in Mason with burial following at Wagram Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
