You’ll notice that I’m not listing any fiction new arrivals today, and, unfortunately, it’s because none have arrived. Our December and January book shipments have been very slow in coming—perhaps due to weather delays—but for whatever reason, our January 15 order won’t be here until January 28 at the earliest. I’m sorry that there’s nothing we can do to hurry them along; I guess we’ll all just have to be patient.

On another note, we are getting many, many DVDs back that have been mishandled—food, grease, fingerprints, deep scratches. We can only use the disc repair machine on a disc a few times before it is unusable. Last week alone we had to throw away five discs. We are asking that users be more careful when handling discs: hold by the edges only, don’t lay a disc down anywhere but in the case, clean your machine, and please supervise small children! These things alone would be a great help in keeping the DVDs playing as long as possible.
