Library to Offer Cooking Demonstration and Tasting Luncheon

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library is sponsoring Nonnie’s Kitchen: My Favorite Comfort Foods, featuring superb cook Martha Kothmann. Martha’s cooking demonstration will be on Friday, February 21 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. in the Stribling Room. She is sharing her Spanish roast recipe, that is “an easy-to-prepare dish but, oh, so delicious!” Martha says, “This versatile recipe can be served as a main meal with your favorite side dishes, then the following day made into a thick, hardy soup to warm your soul. It may also be served as an appetizer or tapas plate.” Come join us for a hands-on cooking experience and good comfort food to warm you during these cold winter days!


Spanish roast, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots

Soups:   Spanish roast soup with potatoes, celery and carrots

New Mexico style:  hominy and green chilies

Vietnamese  Pho (Spanish style):  a fusion dish combining flavors of Vietnam and Spain! 

A tapas plate featuring Spanish roast with green onion, sliced avocado and cheese.  ( Served with warm tortillas)
