Mason Youths Win at San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

San Antonio –The Grand Champion Market Goat Drive was held February 13 at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.

Kirsten Shaw of Mason, Texas, took home a $10,000 scholarship for being the Heavy Weight Grand Champion. Shaw is a member of Mason County 4-H and enjoys playing softball, being 4-H Vice President and being involved in FFA. She plans to attend Texas Tech University to become an anesthesiologist.

Another scholarship winner from Mason, Texas, was Texas Ranger Schmidt. He was Reserve Champion Light Weight and also took home a $10,000 scholarship. Schmidt is a member of Mason County 4-H and enjoys hunting, showing livestock, reading and playing sports. He plans to attend Auburn University to become an alternative energy engineer.

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is “A volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas.” In pursuit of its mission, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has committed more than $134 million to youth education since 1984 and $11.1 million in 2013.
