Green is the color you must wear on St. Patrick’s Day. Failure to do so means anyone can pinch you, as I so painfully learned as a child. However, the Mason Scarlet Punchers, those daring defiers of tradition, will NOT be “wearing the green”’at their monthly get-together. Possibly because we were raised in the age of “what will the neighbors think,” we now boldly wear red hats and purple outfits and celebrate our individuality and uniqueness (as much as a bunch of identically dressed “women of a certain age” can, anyway!
Anyway, on Monday, March 10th, the Mason Scarlet Punchers will be gathering at 11:00 AM at the Methodist Church parking lot to carpool to the home of Casey Butcher, who has graciously agreed to host our monthly luncheon. Casey lives “off the grid” off the San Antonio Highway in a house she and her husband Lee built when they moved here from Alaska. We Scarlet Punchers always enjoy not only Casey’s hospitality (ask about the dead rattlesnake on the fence) but the sweeping views from her deck.
Lunch is pot luck, and as always there are prizes. We hope all ladies in Mason, particularly those who may be over-committed to volunteer work, will join us, because aside from a good old-fashioned gabfest our goal in Scarlet Punchers is to accomplish absolutely nothing. We don’t raise money, we don’t feed the homeless, we just have a great time!!
