The Mason Puncher Band went to Coleman last week for UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest. The band came away with 1st division ratings in both areas!

For concert, the band had prepared three songs to play. For Sight Reading, the band is given music they have never seen before, and have seven minutes to look over it before playing for the judges. In both the concert and sight reading portions they received comments from the judges saying “Very nice ensemble sounds. Your band sounds well prepared for today’s event. I enjoyed your performance, and all that hard work paid off.”

Band director Bobby Halamicek said “I thought the kids did a great job and played really well, I was really proud of them.” The band will spend the rest of the year working on getting better and preparing for the spring concert which will be on May 13th.
