Voting

In February, a “Rasmussen Reports” national telephone survey found that just eight percent (8%) of likely U.S. voters rated the job Congress was doing as good or excellent. Sixty-six percent (66%) thought Congress was doing a poor job. Yet, incumbents Congressman Mike Conaway and Senator John Cornyn will, more than likely, be handily re-elected. Go figure…

Admittedly, and though disappointed at times, I’m a libertarian-leaning Republican voter, but given the incompetence I’ve been seeing in Washington, I couldn’t vote for these two. I felt that, personally, it was important to send a message to Congress reminding them that they were doing a lousy job and that they were replaceable. I wish more voters thought the same and voiced their complaint with their vote as well.

Maybe it’s time to remind Congress that this is a representative government. Maybe it’s time to rid ourselves of professional politicians. Maybe it’s time for the electorate to step up.

Thanks,

Tom Tannehill
