Mason County Child Welfare Board Annual Fundraiser is Palm Sunday
Wednesday, March 26, 2014 • Posted March 27, 2014

Come to the square on Sunday, April 13th and bring your appetite! The Annual Hamburger Picnic will be held on the west side of the square on Palm Sunday from 11-1. In addition to delicious hamburgers hot off the grill, guests will get a bag of chips and an ice cold soda for just $6. Also, we have a special surprise! The members of CASA have arranged for the Easter Bunny and his helpers to be here, so children should bring their Easter Baskets for the egg hunt! The Easter Bunny has even agreed to stay for the whole afternoon and pose for pictures with the kids. Keepsake photos will be printed on site and you can take them home with you for a $5 donation.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The members of the Mason County Child Welfare Board are seeking to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and to encourage the people of Mason to support children and families. To that end, we have scheduled several activities, such as “Go Blue Day” on Wednesday, April 9th. Children and adults are encouraged to wear blue, symbolizing the bruised and the battered.

Texans in Motion, sponsored by Mason County AgriLife Extension will have a Child Safety Seat Check event in conjunction with the Easter Egg Hunt and Hamburger Luncheon.  The event will start at 10:30am on the west side of the Courthouse lawn.  Come and get your child safety seat or booster checked to make sure it is properly installed in your vehicle. You could be saving your child’s life!  It is free and easy.  Extension Agent Kristy Powell says that due to the complicated nature of safety seats, most are improperly installed.  The Certified Passenger Safety Technicians will install your seats properly and teach you how to do it as well. If your car seat does not meet the standard, they will even provide you with a brand new car seat for free!
