Bi-Monthly Meeting in Mason for County Judges' Caucus
Wednesday, April 2, 2014 • Posted April 5, 2014

The County Judges’ Caucus held its bi-monthly meeting in Mason on Friday, March 28th. The meeting was attended by close to 20 county judges, mainly from the western hill county area. Also in attendance were former state representative Bob Turner, former chief of staff for state senator Jeff Whitworth, Joe Morris, retired Washington County Judge Dorothy Morgan, representing LCRA, and Rick Thompson, representative of the Texas Association of Counties. The main speaker for the meeting was Jim Allison, attorney with Allison, Bass, and McGee of Austin. Mr. Allison serves as the Legal Counsel for County Judges and Commissioners for the state of Texas. The purpose of the meeting was to allow judges to receive updates on legislative activities and to interact with their fellow judges about issues in their respective counties. The issue receiving the most attention and concern facing all counties is the severe drought and the future problems with our state water supply. Other items discussed were transportation issues, elections, and items of concern to be addressed in the next legislative session. The meeting was hosted by Mason County Judge Jerry Bearden and all enjoyed a meal at the Willow Creek Café.
