Operation Orphans Take 53 Boys Fishing

Operation Orphans, Inc. which has its base camp located on the Llano River in Mason county hosted 53 boys from 6 residential children and foster homes April 11th and 12th.

The boys traveled to Camp Gene Ashby from Big Springs Ranch for Children, Leakey; Foster’s Children’s Home, Stephenville; Collard Foster Home, Glen Rose; West Texas Boy’s Ranch, San Angelo; Texas Baptist Home, Round Rock, and Sweeten Children’s Home, Brownwood.

The kids spent Saturday fishing on area ranches. Ranches hosting the eager fishermen and their guides were Scott Zesch Ranch, Zach Zesch Ranch, Kirby Davis, Ewing Ranch, Mike Dail, YMCA Roberts Ranch, and Northcutt Ranch. The boys had a great time catching perch, crappie, bass, and catfish.

Individuals came from all across Texas to help serve as guides and fishing companions. Mason Bottling Company supplied soft drinks.

Operation Orphans, Inc. will have a fishing weekend for girls May 3rd. At the present time 56 girls are expected to attend.
