Barlow-Grote Married January 11th

Virginia Marie Grote, daughter of Don and Pattie Grote of Mason, Texas, and Clifton Douglas Barlow, son of Doug and Connie Barlow of Beaumont, Texas, were married Saturday, January 11th, at two o’clock in the afternoon at the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend in Austin, Texas. Pastor John Patterson officiated.

Music was performed by Stacy Arnold of Dallas, Texas, on the classical guitar. Parents and grandparents of the bride and groom were seated to “Canon in D.” The bridal party advanced to “Marry Me” by Train and the bride made her entrance to “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin. During the ceremony, the bride’s uncle, Nick Moore, of Gilmer, Texas, sang a beautiful rendition of “Love Never Fails” by Brandon Heath.

Sky Barlow, brother of the groom, of College Station, Texas, was best man. Groomsmen were Chris Smith of Houston, Texas, Chris Quirk of Austin, Texas, and Mike Pittman of Austin, Texas. Ushers were Bryan Grote, of Weatherford, Texas, and Tim Wheeler of San Angelo, Texas. The groomsmen wore light gray suits with navy blue ties and boutonnieres of ivory roses and seeded eucalyptus. The groom wore a light gray suit with a champagne tie and boutonniere of ivory roses and blue thistle accented with green berries and seeded eucalyptus.

Lana Estevilla, friend of the bride, of Austin, Texas, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Hilary Smith, sister of the groom, of Houston, Texas, Heather Barlow, sister of the groom, of College Station, Texas, and Sheri Wheeler, cousin of the bride, of San Angelo, Texas. They wore navy blue knee-length dresses and carried bouquets of ivory roses and hydrangeas accented with green berries and assorted greenery.

The groom’s niece, Isla Smith, was the flower girl for the ceremony, and Kohen Sandberg, the groom’s cousin, carried a banner which said “Here Comes the Bride.”

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore an ivory lace wedding gown with a chapel length train. The gown featured vintage floral patterned lace adorned with beads. An ivory sash accentuated the empire waist and gathered in a bow. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses, green hydrangeas and blue thistle with touches of seeded eucalyptus and dark berries. The bride wore an opal pendant necklace worn by her mother at her wedding.

The reception was held in The Gallery room at Chez Zee American Bistro. Surrounded by the room’s signature white twinkling lights, friends and family enjoyed a light lunch and live piano music.

The bride and groom honeymooned in Costa Rica. They reside in Austin, Texas.
