Penn "Penny" Roger Henke

Mr. Penn “Penny” Roger Henke of Fredericksburg passed away on Wednesday April 30th in San Antonio at the age of 79 years.

Penny was born on October 20, 1934, in Fredericksburg to Emil R. and Nell Geistweidt Henke. He married Mabel Leyendecker on December 14, 1957 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

Penny is survived by his wife Mabel Leyendecker Henke of Fredericksburg; daughter and spouse: Jan and Michael Nebgen of Fredericksburg; granddaughter and spouse: Michelle and Matthew Jepson of Temple; sister and spouse: Theresa and Elmer Schmidtzinsky of Fredericksburg; sister-in-law: Jeanette and Robert Conn of San Antonio.

The lay in state in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home until 12:15 p.m. on Friday May 2nd and from 1 to 2:00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with Services at 2:00 p.m. in Church with Rev. David Priem officiating.

Graveside services and interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation for Penny Henke was on Thursday May 1st from 4 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Michael Nebgen, Matthew Jepson, Wade Schmidtzinsky, Rory Pape, Buddy Mills, and Warren Ottmers.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kathy Saucier, Robin Jennings, and Cindy Schmidtzinsky.
