The Museum is looking for vintage photos or other memorabilia to use in the brewing heritage exhibit. Many of the historical buildings along Main Street were homes to the founding families of Fredericksburg. In the front of the home or on the first floor, these families operated general stores where the commodities they sold included staples, groceries and beer. At least thirteen saloons if not more could be found along Main Street in early Fredericksburg. The 300 block of West Austin was the location of the Probst Brewery and the Assisg Brewery was located on W. Creek Street. Many early festivals also celebrated this heritage. Any family or individuals wishing to participate in the photo exhibit are welcome to call 997-2835 or email photoarchive@austin.rr.com.
