Operation Orphans, Inc. hosted 40 girls from 3 residential children’s homes May 2nd and 3rd. The girls came to Mason county to enjoy a day fishing. Homes participating were Big Springs Children’s Home, Leakey; Presbyterian Children’s Home, Itasca; and Texas Boy’s Ranch, Lubbock.

The girls enjoyed fishing at Runge Ranch, Zesch James River, Scott Zesch, Ewing Ranch, Dail Ranch, and Northcutt Ranch. Operation Orphans hosted 53 boys for fishing April 25th and 26th.

The girls were accompanied by volunteers who shared their love of fishing. Girls were shown how to fish and were encouraged to bait their own hooks and safely remove their catch. All fishing was catch, photo, and release. The girls also enjoyed rock hunting and viewing the area scenery.

Operation Orphans, Inc. will continue helping children enjoy the outdoors with its hunting program, with hunts scheduled October 25, November 15, December 6, and January 10.

Operation Orphans, Inc. is in need of gently used coats for the upcoming winter season. Contact camp supervisors Jerry or Lyla Crouch if you have coats to donate or if you wish additional information, phone 325.347.6745 or
