MHS Class of 48 Celebrates 66th Reunion

The Mason High School class of 1948 celebrated its 66th reunion on April 26, 2014, at the Willow Creek Cafe. Some fun facts about the class: forty eight seniors graduated on May 26, 1948. The story goes that it was the largest graduating class in the history of the school up until that time. Commencement was held in the old gym. Senator Dorsey B. Hardeman was guest speaker. Hattie McCollum Smith and June Leifeste Becker were Co-Valedictorians and Harold Ray Buntyn was Salutatorian. Of the forty eight, twenty three are deceased. Only twelve classmates and four spouses were able to attend this year. Spouses attending, but not included in the picture, were: Helen Donop, Vickie Loeffler, Charlie Reid and Georgia Schmidt. Classmates pictured are, standing: Dan Geistweidt, Lila Jo Chew Polk, Andrew Loeffler, Lindy Lange, Pat Eppler, Carleton Donop and JoBeth Comer Reid. Sitting: Emmit Schmidt, Wanda Jeffrey Slaughter, Lorene Haines Dunlap, Oma Maddox Bierschwale and Ona Maddox Green.
