With a much needed rain out Monday week, the Mason Invitational was held on Thursday. In the Cowgirl division, the lady Bulldogs placed first, the lady Bronco’s placed second and third and the lady Warriors swung in to fourth place.

In the Puncher division, Brady placed first, Sonora second, Mason third and fourth and Ingram placed fifth. Xzavier Herrera placed as the sixth low individual.

Monday the 19th, we took a trip down into Warrior country. The lady Bronco’s took first and second place honors, the lady Bulldog’s placed third, and the lady Warriors came in fourth and fifth. Competing this year for the Cowgirls was 8th graders Jenna Johnson and Julie Mae Drazan.

In the men’s division, Sonora placed first, Brady second and third, Mason fourth and fifth and Ingram placed sixth. Fernando Torres placed third as the low individual for the Warrior Open. The eighth grade Punchers this year were; Jake Comey, Cason Dudney, Matt Finn, Xzavier Herrera, Jorge Lopez, Emmanuel Martinez, John Paul Martinez, Bode McMillan, Ethan Powell, Stran Stulz and Fernando Torres. The seventh grade Punchers were; John Benefield, Tyson Keller, Blake McLaughlin and Rudy Martinez.

As we were finishing up our meal last night, one of the boys asked where we were competing next week. Sadly I had to reply that our season had ended with the closing out of another school year. But fear not young linksters, for the Southwestern Jr Golf Association has about sixty golf tournaments going on this summer. In addition, PGA golf pro Scott McDonough from Kerrville has agreed to come to Mason on Mondays and give lessons from 5:30 to 7:00. This will start on the 2nd Monday of June and will run while we have adequate interest. The cost will be $35 for a series of three lessons. The golf course will also offer a driving range plan. For the small price of $20 per month, the whole family can have endless hours of quality time with each other. What a good way to build family memories. The lessons will be available for incoming 5th through 12th graders. You may sign up by calling me at 325-347-7130 or by calling Scott at 830-377-2095.
