The Mason Artisan Gallery Features Work of Marcy Holmes-Wheeler for June Art Walk
Wednesday, June 4, 2014 • Posted June 4, 2014

The Mason Artisan Gallery displays the work of a number of local artists. You can find metal sculptures, jewelry, pottery, paintings, and drawings created with a variety of media. All this set in a beautifully reconstructed Sunday House on Live Oak Street, just north of the Square. The Gallery is a work of art in itself, both in its design and its green use of energy.

This month the Gallery features the work of Marcy Holmes-Wheeler, an artist who recently retired from teaching. Marcy has become well known in the area for her decorated gourds. The gourds range from baseball size to the size of a basketball. They are embellished by paint and dye. Some are wood burned and some are carved. The gourds become lamps, clocks, containers, or birdhouses.

Marcy Holmes-Wheeler lives in Menard County and is a member of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. Her work has appeared in shows in San Angelo and Kerrville, as well as in FAAHC shows here in Mason.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see new work by local artists and do a bit of shopping.

The Artisan Gallery is looking forward to seeing you this weekend, June 6. Come visit with the artists and help yourself to the refreshments that will appear on the table mid- afternoon. Wine will be served during Happy Hour.
