Melvin Burns Memorial Golf Tournament
Wednesday, June 4, 2014 • Posted June 4, 2014

The 5th annual Melvin Burns Memorial golf tournament will be held this weekend, June 6-8.

It will begin with a shootout at 6:00 p.m. at the Comanche Creek Golf Course. The shootout will have two divisions – high and low handicaps. The two person/one low ball competition (36 holes) will begin at 8:30 Saturday morning and will conclude on Sunday afternoon. Also, on Saturday there will be a three person scramble in the afternoon beginning at 1:30.

The scramble is a one day, 18 hole event. A noon meal will be provided for all players on Saturday.

Erna Frac Sand has joined this venture as a corporate sponsor. Their participation and that of the hole sponsors guarantee “rewarding” prizes. Cash prizes will be awarded to the successful golfers and an exciting Hole in One competition offers $10,000, 2 airline tickets, golf clubs and $500 in merchandise to lucky players.

The proceeds from the golf tournament provide scholarships to deserving graduates. Nine students have already benefitted from this endeavor.
