The Llano Pioneers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas once again received a Six Star Chapter Award at the 2014 DRT Annual State Convention, and President/Registrar Arlene Garey proudly presented it to the chapter during the awards luncheon on May 27th.
The Six Star Chapter Award was established in 2001 and is bestowed to those chapters that meet criteria in the categories of Achievement (membership increase, CRT sponsorship, annual chapter reporting, promotion of Texas history, gifts to DRT units, donation of flags, donation of Texas maps/Texas Declaration of Independence to schools, and observance of Texas Honor Days), Attendance, Membership, participation in the President General’s Project, participation in 2 or more Texas History projects (chapter member must have written a book or article in published or unpublished manuscript, chapter entry in Texas History Teachers Contest or Texas History Student Essay Contests, chapter member marked a grave with DRT/CRT memorial medallion, chapter gave a book on some aspect of pre-1900 Texas history to a school or library, or chapter awarded a scholarship to a deserving student), and chapter Volunteer Hours.
During the Awards Luncheon two Llano Pioneers Chapter members were also recognized and awarded. D’Ann Green was sworn in as a new member of the Chapter and was presented her Texas shaped Llano Pioneers Chapter name tag, and Geneva Hahn who had been recognized at the DRT State Convention for her many years of membership was awarded a 25-year DRT pin.
The Llano Pioneers Chapter of the DRT meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Llano County Library in Llano with the exception of the months of June, July and August.
