Miss Jerialice is proud to announce “Multi-Media & Tunes in June”, a 2 day event in Mason Texas. June 18 & 19 will be 2 special days in Mason.
She says, that “This is a first for Texas Songwriters in the Round, but what can you do when one of the stars of the show also has access to a great film? Bring it on for the Mason Community!”
The film, The Cherokee Word For Water is a film inspired by the true story of the struggle for, opposition to, and ultimate success of a rural Cherokee community to bring running water to their families by using the traditional concept of “gadugi “– working together to solve a problem. The Odeon Theater in Mason, TX, will be offering a FREE screening of this film on Wednesday, June 18th, at 630pm. Artist/musician Ben Livingston will be in attendance to make a presentation and will also be performing on Thursday, June 18th, at Sandstone Cellars Wine Bar, sponsored by Texas Songwriters In The Round. More information at www.TheOdeonTheater.com and http://www.enchantedrock.com/tsr.html.
TSR June’s featured songwriter, Ben Livingston, will be in town Wednesday, where he will give a short talk about the film, and Thursday when he will be the star attraction at Sandstone Cellars Winery in Mason Texas. “Ben Livingston comes highly recommended by Terry Allen. In many respects, the two are like-minded souls. He fits right in the row of specific Texas artists as Terry Allen, Butch Hancock, Joe Ely, Carl Swinney and the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. That means intellectual, opinionated, progressive, looking across borders and at times wacky.” “South Texas native, National Endowment for the Arts Fellow and alien shapeshifter, Ben Livingston personifies sheer joy in the artistic process”. The Austin Chronicle says: “Livingston’s songs are immensely interpretable, an outsider’s amused gaze even at their most sincere”. Ben describes his music as: “My lyrics are lifted from countless years of journal writing - exactly the same as my paintings. They are both allegorical stories that help me solve my own philosophical problems. The music and my neon are similar in that they are more ethereal, always floating around like clouds. You can look at my neon and you can even touch it with your fingers, but what it does to you is intangible. Similarly, if you want the form of the story, you can only feel the shape of my words with your soul.”
