The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, June 10th, for its regular weekly meeting. There were 30 members and three visitors in attendance.
Lion Ron Freytag was responsible for the program and introduced Charley Jordan III, who spoke about his job as owner of KHLB, Lonestar 102.5 FM radio. He stated that the station has 50,000 watts of power, and can be heard all over Mason and surrounding counties. Charley said that the station started out slow; but, is gaining speed now with updated equipment. He also stated that he slept on a cot inside the station for several nights to make sure the equipment kept the station on the air.
Charley complimented his staff, which includes Larry Appleby and Kendale Rice, for the great job they are doing, and all the help they have given him. Uncle Charley and KHLB 102.5 are a great asset to Mason.
The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, June 17th, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Gaylan Thorn.
