Current, Former Game Wardens Receive Promotions

One of Mason's current game wardens, Cody Hatfield (at left), and a former game warden, Jerry Gordon, recently received promotions. Following are their biographies.

Jerry D Gordon

Is now the Captain over training at the Game Warden Training Center near Star, Tx.

After Graduating from Texas A&M University Jerry started his career as a Game Warden in 1986. He served 4 years in Seabrook working the Galveston Bay area, 13 years in Red River County in North East Texas, and finally ended up in the Central Texas Hill Country in Mason County. In 2008 he promoted to Lieutenant at the new Game Warden Training Center near Star, Texas where he primarily taught Firearms.

Jerry and his wife Kay Lynn have been married for 26 years and now live near Zephyr, Texas.

Cody Hatfield

Is now the Game Warden Captain over District 2 (Mason, Llano, San Saba, Lampasas, Burnet, Menard counties)

Employed by TPWD as a Law Enforcement division summer Intern in 2001, and 2002. Those internships were based in region 7 and region 2.

Graduated from Sul Ross State University in Alpine TX in May, 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife management (major) and criminal justice (minor).

Graduated from the 49th Texas Game Warden academy in June, 2003

First duty assignment was Edwards County stationed there approximately 5 years

Transferred to Mason County in March 2008 and was stationed there approximately 6 years.

Awarded National Wild Turkey Federation Texas Officer of the year 2009
