Polka, Play, and Race at 51st Night In Old Fredericksburg!

Night In Old Fredericksburg promises a Texas Hill Country celebration of polka and two-stepping, German games, and pari-mutuel excitement on Saturday, July 19, 2014.

Now in its 51st year, this fun summer event moves from downtown Fredericksburg back to the Gillespie County Fair Grounds located just south of town on Hwy 16. This location offers visitors more parking, more dancing room, and the opportunity to place bets on the horses.

Race Post time is 1 PM, with a full afternoon of quarter horse and thoroughbred races at the Class 3 track.

More fun begins at 1 PM with Washer Pitching Contest. Other games include Beer Keg Rolling, Stein Holding Contest, Bavarian Beer Maid Races, Yodeling, Chicken Dance Contest, Schuhplattler (Baverian Shoe Slapping), 42 Domino Tournament, and Goat Roping Contest.

The festival will feature music by three different bands playing throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Off The Grid Band plays in the Exhibition Hall starting at 3 PM. The 7 Dutchman Band play German and Czech tunes starting at 7 PM inside the Exhibition Hall. Over on the main stage, fans can dance under the stars to Jake Hooker from 8:30 to 12:30.

Food and drinks will be available throughout the day.

General Admission for the horse races and all music and activities is $7 until 6 PM. After 6 PM admission is $10.
